Baby with disturbed sleep and
colic.
My husband had been a friend of Ivor’s during school,
but hadn’t seen him for years. Over Christmas 2009,
we were back in Durban so Ivor paid us a visit.
It was the first time that he had seen our baby, who is only 8
months old. The first thing that he asked when he saw him was “does your baby have colic, or difficulty
sleeping?”. When I asked why, he replied that he noticed a “slight kink” in the spine. The truth is that
since childbirth, I had been up at least every 2 hours trying to settle a crying baby. I felt tired all the
time, had deep bags under my eyes and was beginning to wonder if I would ever be able to
cope.
Ivor said that these “kinks”, or misalignments of the spine of
babies are very common nowadays, especially with the increase in caesarean sections, because the head has to
be pulled out at an un-natural angle. He told me that it would be very easy for him to rectify, and the baby
would barely feel a thing. I was sceptical that anything could help, but I was ready to give it a try. So
with me still holding her, Ivor felt down the spine until he found what he called the major “culprit”. He
distracted my daughter to the one side, while he
gently “pushed” the side of her neck from the other side. It seemed to be almost like a gentle bouncing
action, and was over very quickly. It didn’t seem to bother her at all.
That night she slept the whole night, waking only at 5 am. At
first I thought it was a co-incidence, but after a couple more nights passed without trouble, I phoned Ivor
to thank him and see if there was anything else that needed doing. He checked her spine the following weekend
and found some minor misalignments that he also changed with ease (and without any complaints from my baby).
That was 6 months ago, and I can honestly say that Ella has slept well and had no colic since then. I wish
that more mothers knew of the benefits of spinal alignment for their babies.

Baby with Reflux
I heard of Dr. Von Senger through a friend,
who told me that he works a lot with babies. It took me a lot to decide whether or not to take my little boy,
zane, to see him for his reflux condition, because I thought it might hurt him a bit. I read up more about it
on the internet, and eventually gave it a try.
With my heart in my mouth we arrived at the
practice, but we were made at ease by Ivor’s friendly demeanour and ease with which he dealt with Zane. He
was only 6 months old, but had been battling with reflux, that had gotten progressively worse since birth. We
had been to the paediatrician countless times, and experimented with different formulas, but nothing seemed
to be working. Luckily he was still growing, but we were worried that the problem might be something serious,
and would continue getting worse.
Ivor explained to us that working with babies
is such a pleasure to him because if the problem is coming from the spine, the treatment will work. He said
that this is different to grown-ups that very often are sceptical, which interferes with the healing process.
He examined Zane, and found what he said were “subuxations” in the spine, the worst, in Zane’s case, was in
his lower back. He gently massaged the back, (which Zane loved) and then made a couple small movements with
his hands at different areas of his spine. I myself was surprised that the treatment had been so gentle, and
wondered if there would be any change at all.
That night Zane slept so much better, but it
was only after the 3rd treatment, that his reflux diminished drastically. I have taken him for his 6 month
check-up recently, and the symptoms are still completely gone.
I have nothing but encouragement for mothers
in similar situations to give Chiropractic a try, the process is extremely gentle, and, from my experience,
babies with reflux respond so very well.
Yours
Sincerely
Margaret
